The Lee County Humane Society (LCHS) is holding its first-ever Feline Frenzy, free cat adoptions, in honor of Adopt-a-Cat Month during the month of June.
From the press release:
The adoption processing fee for all cats older than four- months-old, will be waived. “We are excited to promote cat adoptions in our community and hope to find more homes for cats during the month of June than we are able to do on a regular basis,” said LCHS Executive Director Jessica Marable.
Cat adoptions occur less frequently than dog, puppy and kitten adoptions at Lee County Humane Society. In 2010, during the month of June, LCHS had 40 dog and puppy adoptions and only nine cat adoptions. “We receive a lot of cats in the summer months, and this year has been no different. We hope to adopt out many cats as possible during Feline Frenzy,” Marable said. All cats adopted during Feline Frenzy, will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
In order to adopt a cat during Feline Frenzy, you will need a copy of a valid driver’s license or government issued identification. All adopters will need to complete the simple LCHS one-page adoption application. LCHS strongly encourages all pet adopters to have any current pets up-to-date on vaccinations. The shelter also recommends paying all applicable pet deposits before adopting. All cats will be required to leave the shelter in a crate or cardboard carrier. If you do not have your own, cardboard carriers will be available for sale at the shelter.
Lee County Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to serving the citizens of Lee County through animal rescue, the promotion of responsible animal companionship, and the elimination of pet overpopulation.
