“This tale grew with the telling.” — J.R.R. Tolkien
I’m a little embarrassed to say this podcast is very, very late. As the above quote from Prof. Tolkien suggests, it just kind of grew out of control as I talked to more and more people about the SummerNight Downtown Art Walk and they, in turn, recommended more and more people to talk to.
And, with all that, I still think I’m telling only a fraction of the story.
About three weeks ago, I started with Eric Stamp from the Downtown Auburn merchants. We both thought it would be a good idea to talk to Sara Hand from the City who could speak to some of the planning. She brought along Cari Philen who handles children’s activities and will be showing with the Dean Road Ceramics Studio. They suggested artists who would be showing or performing, but in the meantime I discovered that my stylist at Ardistry, Kathryn Lane, would be performing…well, you can see what I mean.
So, in the interest of completing this podcast before the 5th Annual SummerNight Downtown Art Walk, I decided to wrap up the interviews. As for all of the wonderful businesses, artists, and musicians I didn’t talk to? I’ll be sure to introduce myself to those of you I haven’t yet met Friday night as I stroll through the streets of downtown Auburn enjoying your work. Perhaps we can set up a time to interview you for podcasts of your own!
The SummerNight Downtown Art Walk happens Friday, June 18th in downtown Auburn from 6-9:30 p.m. with a rain date of Saturday, June 19th.
