Offbeat Auburn Podcast — The Village Christian Church Labyrinth

We visit Auburn’s own labyrinth for a conversation with The Reverend Diane Wood of Village Christian Church. Just click on the button below to listen or check us out on iTunes!

The word “labyrinth” has come to be used interchangeably with “maze.” Historically, however, a labyrinth describes a complex structure, which winds along a simple path to its center rather than the multiple twisting paths of a maze. You may find yourself turning a lot, but you should never become hopelessly lost in a labyrinth.

Labyrinths also carry the unspoken suggestion of heavy, stone structures, so I was surprised when Diane Wood of Auburn’s Village Christian Church invited us out to visit their labyrinth. One bright spring day, Sydney and I followed the Reverend Wood behind their building off University to find their brick and gravel labyrinth nestled on their wooded acreage.

The Village Christian Church labyrinth is located behind their building at 700 University Drive and is open to any and all visitors.
