Offbeat Auburn Podcast — The Great Southern Wing and a Prayer Tour

An early morning conversation with authors and storytellers River Jordan and Shellie Rushing Tomlinson. Just click on the button below to listen or check us out on iTunes. Either way, hang on for the ride!

GreatSouthernWingAndAPrayerTourI stopped by The Gnu’s Room this week to talk to Tina Tatum about their coming events. There is always so much going on there that we have taken to getting together once a week to make sure we don’t miss anything on the Calendar. We talked about The Write Time series for writers of all kinds and the upcoming Singer/Songwriter Contest. I’m going to be a judge so much more on that in the weeks ahead.

As we were wrapping up, she handed me the postcard there on the left and said these two women would be bringing their reading/writing/radio tour of the South to Auburn. I really didn’t know what to make of it, so I slipped the card in my bag and made a note to check out their website when I returned to my office. Once I’d checked out the website, I still wasn’t quite sure what to make of them, but I was awfully interested in dashing off an email and asking if they’d have time for a quick phone interview before hitting the road. They replied on the spot and we scheduled for 9 a.m. the next morning and what a conversation it was…

Plan on stopping by The Gnu’s Room when River Jordan and Shellie Rushing Tomlinson come to town on March 27th because there are stories to be told, fun to be had, and laughs to be shared. In the short time together, I realized that it’s the next best thing to riding in the car with them from stop to stop and after spending an evening with them, I suspect trying to catch that ride will be tempting.

River Jordan and Shellie Rushing Tomlinson bring The Great Southern Wing and a Prayer Tour to The Gnu’s Room, 414 S. Gay St. on Friday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m.
