Openings and the Week Ahead

Coffee! This morning’s coffee comes freshly brewed from beans freshly roasted by Mama Mocha’s Coffee Beanery. Saturday was the Grand Opening and business was bustling! It was great to see so many people come out in support of a new, locally-owned business. Thanks again to Sarah for the great interview. The podcast is our most-listened to date, so thanks to all of the listeners as well!

I thought about a podcast about the Auburn University Theatre production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which opened Friday. I decided against it because the days leading up to an opening are always frantic for the cast and crew, plus I had no doubt the seats would be filled at the Telfair Peet Theatre. Thursday’s special preview to benefit the Lee County Literacy Coalition was well-attended and enthusiastic. Opening was, by all reports, a smash and there wasn’t an empty seat to be seen for last night’s performance. The show is a lot of fun, so get your tickets now and don’t miss it.

MicheFambroSo, what’s in store for the week ahead? I had a great interview with the next artist in the Sundilla Acoustic Concert Series. Miche Fambro comes to town Friday (02/26). The podcast of the interview should be published tomorrow.

And, if all goes according to plan, this week we’ll have two podcasts. Tonight I’ll visit with the improv comedy group What the Fox!? in advance of Sunday’s (02/28) Save the Fox!. It should be fun!

Finally, soon mine will not be the only byline you’re reading and voice you’re hearing on OffbeatAuburn.com. Look for a new contributor here in the weeks ahead.

The number of visits to the site has exploded in the past few weeks. Feedback has been great not only from visitors and readers, but the arts and cultural organizations that keep Auburn and Opelika offbeat. If you find the site, useful, tell your friends. And, if you found an event through the site, let them know you read about it on OffbeatAuburn.com.

Thanks for reading!
